WEBES Latest Versions

Business woman

WEBES v5.6 for Windows is now available.

HP has released Web-Based Enterprise Services (WEBES) V5.6 for both the HP Insight Remote Support Standard and Advanced A.05.30 software via the Remote Support Software Manager. Although this WEBES version introduces new functionality and product support, it is offered to existing customers as an optional upgrade unless the new product coverage is required. This is because it requires to be manually downloaded and installed, regardless of the automation policy configured by the customer.

Note: the Open Service Event Manager (OSEM) migration and the WEBES manual upgrade steps, described below will be required at a date in the near future.

This WEBES release is a major milestone in several ways:

  • WEBES V5.6 completes the migration of Open Service Event Manager (OSEM) capabilities to WEBES and is a significant step in the reduction of the complexity of the Insight RS solutions as we simplify to a single analysis engine from now on, plus allows the product coverage in Insight RSS to be synchronized with Insight RSA from a remote monitoring perspective.

  • For HP Insight Remote Support Standard (Insight RSS), this release hugely extends the product coverage from remote monitoring for both this release and going forward. This now includes coverage for all HP Enterprise devices, similar to HP Insight Remote Support Advanced (Insight RSA), but with the exception of NonStop, multivendor servers and HP StorageWorks XP storage devices.
  • For HP Insight RSA and HP Insight RSS, this WEBES version also replaces the Microsoft SQL Express database with a new embedded PostGRE SQL database that will enable this WEBES release and all future versions to be more scalable and to improve performance. It also removes any confusion if the customer is using their own SQL database with HP Systems Insight Manager and the request to leverage the same database for WEBES, since the new embedded SQL database will be invisible to customers.

Installation

Existing customers will be able to view the availability of WEBES V5.6 through the Remote Support Software Manager (RSSWM). However, regardless of the automation policy configured by the customer, it will not be automatically downloaded and requires a manual download and install, if WEBES V5.6 is required. The manual step to upgrade to WEBES V5.6 is required because the database migration requires System Administration rights that are unavailable as an automated RSSWM software update because of Microsoft Windows security requirements.

For customers with a slow Internet download performance for RSSWM (mainly EMEA and APJ), you may want to consider to upgrade to the new software by downloading and installing the Install Then Manage (ITM) software package from Software Depot available later this week, which updates the software from wherever you have installed the ITM software package using an RSSWM installer (Setup.exe) that comes with the ITM software package.

New customers will automatically install and benefit from this new WEBES release, made available through the Install Then Manage (ITM) depot once it is made available from Software Depot. No specific actions are required.

If you do install this optional WEBES version for Insight RSA, it is highly advisable to complete the OSEM migration at the same time to enable new product support introduced with WEBES V5.6, which will not be available when running both analysis engines in parallel. This is because if WEBES detects OSEM as being installed, it automatically disables all SNMP event detection in WEBES. Some SNMP device coverage is only available in WEBES, since OSEM is no longer being updated with new product support.

Note: some of the product coverage below will only be available for Insight RSA once the OSEM migration has been completed.

  • Added Service Media Library web links for BL860/BL870c server in the call details (for customer self repair)

    • ProLiant 1x0 G6 series requires HP Insight Management WBEM Providers for Windows Servers v2.3.1 (note: 1x0 means Intel based products only); this is a limited release for the following product models only:
    • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 operating system on HP ProLiant server (SNMP protocol only)
    • VMware ESX3i/4i Server
    • HP StorageWorks x1000 & x3000 Network Storage Systems
