Service MIB instructions

If for some reason the service MIB file needs to be replaced or compiled into a management application besides SIM, please follow the steps below:

• Download the appropriate version of the service MIB
  • For SIM Build versions beginning with C.05.00.02.00, select the following link to download the current version of the service MIB zip file:

  • For SIM Build versions prior to C.05.00.02.00 and for other management applications, select the following link to download the previous version of the service MIB zip file:

• To update the new service MIB with HP SIM perform the following procedure on the system running HP SIM:
  • Open an MS-DOS window or UNIX shell.
  • Change to the directory containing the MIBs such as c:\program files\hp\systems insight manager\mibs for Windows or /opt/mx/mibs for Linux.
  • Copy the new cpqservice.mib and .cfg files to the MIBS directory.
  • Run "mxmib -a cpqservice.cfg" to update the new service MIB.
    
    
• To configure the service trap type to send, for OSEM, go to Settings: Internal and set the HP Systems Insight Manager trap revision field to the desired type. Beginning with WEBES 4.5, after the command desta snmp on is entered, the user will need to select the desired type when prompted by the question: Which revision of the service trap should be sent (Type 2 or 3) [2]:
  • If using the previous service MIB zip file, never select Type 3 as it is not supported by this version of the MIB
  • When using the current service MIB refer to the OSEM or WEBES release notes to verify that Service Trap Type 3 output is supported
