Technology, in particular, to the introduction of solid state drives designed for use in the ProLiant server environment. It provides a high-level overview of flash memory and the design methodologies involved in creating reliable solid state drives that use flash memory. Finally, it provides an analysis of both the performance characteristics and operating environment for solid state drives compared to those for the hard disk drives currently used in ProLiant servers.
